The Kargil Fundraiser

Hi All,
The Austin Fundraiser for Kargil was quite successful. In a short span
of 4 days ( Wed through Sat) we were able to raise $2672 to donate to the the Army Central
Welfare Fund for rehabilitation of the next of kin of the valiant soldiers of our country
who have died fighting so that we and our families in India remain safe. The checks were
sent to India yesterday by hand, courtesy Mrs. Vijay Bhatt who was returning to India
after an extended stay with her son here in Austin. As soon as I receive the receipts from
India I will be delivering/mailing it all you folks who donated.
In addition to 15 people in Austin there were 5 out-of-town donors
too. To those who have contributed to this cause, I can say only this - It is my pleasure
to know people like you who not only know to take but also give. To those who still want
to help please send a crossed check in the favor of "ARMY CENTRAL WELFARE FUND"

I think most people on this mailing list want to
help, but just need a little push to do it. I tried to act as an catalyst in Austin and
was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful response I got. I am sure if others outside
Austin decide to do the same they will meet with the same response. Let me warn anyone who
is thinking of doing this though -
YOU WILL HAVE TO EAT AT EACH PLACE YOU GO -
INDIAN HOSPITALITY MAN!!!!!!! By the end of the weekend I could not bear the sight of food
- a glutton like me!!!!!!
